Rose played Lorrell Robinson on the Academy Award-winning film Dreamgirls. Anika Noni Rose (born September 6 1972) is an American performer and actress. Her most notable role is in the role of Tiana, Disney's first African American princess, in The Princess and the Frog (2009). In 2011, she was honored as a Disney Legend. She's also well-known for her performances in the film Lorrell in Dreamgirls which was an Academy Award winning film (2006) as well as LaVerne in Starz's Power. She has also been recognized for her performances in the theatre, such as her starring role in Caroline or Change (2004) on Broadway where her Tony Award was won for Best Actress in Musical.
